Description
The mordros stage 2 came about from wanting a good performance orientated twin with a bit of length. Something with a bit of paddle power that you could still throw around a bit. I took the original mordros nose template, narrowed that slightly and added a hip in the tail template once I found a curve that I liked for the rear half.
The first one was a personal experiment for myself sitting at 6’3” x 19 3/4” x 2 1/2”, which had a bonzer type double concave within a single running through the fins and to spice it up I set it up as a twinzer. It only took a few waves before realising it was a bit of a magic board. It carried so much speed and glide, similar to the original Mordros, yet really felt like it could be thrashed around, and felt like the harder I pushed it the better it went. I’ve tested it in short period mush and was pleasantly surprised with its grovelling capabilities too.
Ranging from 5’11” to 6’8” I feel like this is a great option for the HP shortboarder who is curious about venturing into the Midlength world but maybe is put off by the leap in size, if you are that person I’d lean towards 6’6” and under. Or you are after a good wave step up twin with a bit of liveliness then maybe order in the mid- higher end of the spectrum. Team rider Oli Riley ordered a 6’6” and has been going great for him as a good wave, get in early, barrel seeking kind of board.
